Jeev Ashram- a trip unconventional

Julie- the 6 month old great dane pup has a happy story to report. She got a loving home with Ajay Dhawan after this article was published .

There's no feel more soul satisfying than a visit to an animal shelter on a sunny winter Sunday. The unconditional love and affection of the abandoned and uncared -for animals as they come welcoming you is bound to bring a lump to your throats, no matter how hardened the heart is. We went to an animal shelter called Jeevashram in Rajokri. For the interested - to reach this shelter take the turn from Maples Hotel near the Toll booth of Gurgaon and there are markers leading you right upto the shelter. The clean spacious shelter housing countless dogs, cats, cows, bunnies, emus white mice has been featured in the lImca book of records. And not without reason. The buildings have a terracotta finish giving it a very happy feel. The animals are well taken care of..not one animal smells dirty. The staff friendly, the vets even gave Neuton a complimentary checkup. The shelter runs a full fledged vet hospital, boarding house and a burial center for deceased animals. Since its an NGO,they always welcome contributions in the form of food, medical supplies, milk etc. They have a site on the net which gives out all details. They also welcome voluntary services. This was my first visit to the place and I came out promising to go back more often. One visit is sure shot therapy for the weary soul...And Jeev Ashram is a place definitely loads happier than other better known shelters of Delhi.
